Transit of Lunar Nodes (राहू केतू की चाल)

राहू और केतू मई १५, २०१० से लेकर अगस्त के तीसरे सप्ताह तक धीमी गति से १७ अंश पास रहेंगे. राहू और केतु सभी लग्नों के लिए नुक्सानदायक ग्रह माने जाते हैं. इस चाल का विपरीत प्रभाव उन सभी लोगों (और देशों) पर पड़ेगा जिनकी जन्मपत्री में लग्न राशि १७ अंश से ५ अंश के अंदर पड़ेगी. अर्थात वो सभी जन्मपत्रियां जिनमे लग्न का अंश १३ अंश और २२ अंश के बीच होगा.लग्न का अंश १७ अंश से जितना नज़दीक होगा उतना ही बुरा प्रभाव भी अधिक होगा.

Translation:

Rahu and Ketu will be transiting around 17 degrees from May 15th to third week of August. Rahu/Ketu are malefic planets for all ascendants. This will have bad influence on all those whose ascendant's rising degree falls within 5 degrees of 17 degree. i.e., Those with rising degree of ascendant within 13 to 22 degrees. All charts are different so the influence will be different. But it can be safely said that affected people will face stress and problems in different areas of life. If you are running a main/sub period of weak planets bad influence shall be enhanced and similarly if you are running main/sub period of strong planets, bad effect will be less.

Effect of Mercury's transit at ~8° in May 2010

Mercury is almost stationed at 8 and 9 degrees in Aries from May 6th to May 17th 2010. And it will be 8 degrees May 9th to May 14th. Mercury normally is a fast-moving planet. For Aries, Libra and Aquarius Mercury is Malefic while for all other ascendant it is a benefic planet.

What it means is that if your ascendant is Aries, Libra or Aquarius and rising degree of your ascendant is within 5 degrees of 8 degree i.e., if it is from 3 degrees to 13 degrees, it may give you stress in different areas of life like health issue for you and/or spouse,  mental stress, trouble in foreign lands, trouble in business etc etc depending upon the ascendant and your natal chart. While for other ascendants, it will give good  results if rising degree of ascendant lies within 3 to 13 degrees. Closer it is to 8 degrees, more intense the effect(good or bad).

If you have Aries, Libra and Aquarius ascendant, you should do propitiation of Mercury. Propitiation of Mercury can be done by doing any/all of following if possible:

1. Helping poor students and needy children.
2. Donating to orphanages, twice a year.
3. Offering green fodder (about 2 Kg) to a cow.
4. Donating green pulses.

Jupiter enters Pisces on 2nd May, 2010, and it will be staying there up to 8th May, 2011, except between 2nd November, 2010, to 5th December, 2010, when it appears to be in Aquarius in its apparent retrograde motion.

Depending upon the natal strength of Jupiter the impact of Jupiter in Pisces with varying degrees of influences for various ascending signs is likely to be as under :

1. ARIES - It brings the incidence of travel, expenses, celebrations and relocation in distant places. In some cases the move may be necessitated with a view of earnings. Businessmen may open their offices in foreign lands. Strengthening of Jupiter helps and is recommended.

2. TAURUS - It gives anxieties and mental stresses. It gives worries for professional matters/progression. When on MEP, it will cause trouble to children, younger brothers, business ventures, sources of income and health problems. When not on MEP, it is good for financial gains to father and spouse. Maintain good relations with friends and parents. Continuous propitiation of Jupiter is recommended.

Mercury's transit in April - May 2010

Mercury is going retrograde and slow in Aries from Approximately April 10 to May 25th. It will be almost stationed at around 17 and 18 degrees from April 13th to April 24th and at 8 and 9 degrees from May 6 to May 17th. This means trouble for those ascendants for which Mercury is Malefic i.e., Aries, Libra and Aquarius and good for other ascendants if rising degree of ascendant falls around above mentioned degrees where Mercury will be stationed.

Important 2010 transits

Saturn will stay in Virgo all year. Jupiter spends most of the time in Pisces and some time in Aquarius during early and ending part of the year. Mars will be in Cancer upto May. Venus will spend last months of the year in Libra.

Effect of transit nodes (Rahu and Ketu)

Rahu and Ketu are functional malefic planets in any chart. In Systems approach to Vedic Astrology also called SATVA, we consider true nodes instead of mean value of nodes Rahu and Ketu are always 180 degress from each other. So if, say, Rahu is at 10 degrees in Aries, Ketu shall be at 10 degrees in Libra! They aspect 5th,7th and 9th houses from their position.

Whenever Nodes aspect or transit over the natal and/or transit position of weak planets in ones chart, they create problems related to general and particular significations of the planets affected and houses of their placement. When we say 'Transit over' the planet that means it is within 5 degrees of the planet. When the aspect is wider than 5 degrees little effect is seen. Similarly when they are transiting or have aspect within 5 degrees of any house, they damage the significations of the houses.

Rising degree of ascendant is called middle point of the ascendant and same is considered middle point of any house. e.g., if somebody is born in Aries at 13 degrees, 13 degrees become the middle point of any house and when Nodes (or any planet for that matter) go from 9 degrees to 18 degrees, they will form close conjunction with the houses of placement and aspect. When the influence is within 1 degrees of a weak planet tragic happenings may take place. It becomes more pronounced if the Nodes are going slow during that time. Nodes going slow would mean they will stay within close influence for longer time and hence afflicting more damage.

This always is stressful time for any native. Having strong natal planets help in this scenario. When nodes are going over their own natal nodal positions or is in 5/9 aspect to the natal positions, it gives challenging time to the native, specially so if nodes are going slow in transit during that time. If during such transit influence native is going through a sub-period of a weak and/or afflicted planet, specially a functional malefic, the pain is bound to be more pronounced. By identifying the times when nodes will go slow over certain degrees can help manage stress during those times if these degrees happen to match the rising degree of the ascendant.

Influence of Rahu and Ketu can be mitigated by doing following astral remedies:

RAHU

• Serving one's parents.


• Giving part of your breakfast, sweet parantha or coarse grains to the birds, preferably crows.


• Donations to old aged needy persons or lepers, twice a year.


• Feeding brown colored sweets to the birds.

KETU

• Offering some food to a stray dog.


• Donations to the old age homes, twice a year.


• Prayers to Lord Ganapathi.


• Serving/helping institutions or persons working for spiritualism.
